[Xprint] Tray issues

I'm more than a bit lost on how Xprint 'drivers' and whatnot work; I've
got a Xerox 5400 that (when printed to via CUPS) works perfectly; when
printed to via Xprint, it tries to get A4 paper (wrong) out of tray 2
(also wrong). It would be easiest to simply have Xprint produce
postscript and then hand it to a pre-defined (read: CUPS) spooling
program. Is there a way to do that?

I apologize if this is somewhere in the documentation and I missed it; I
got a bit lost.
