As far as I can tell, the easiest way is to use CUPS or a similar 
driver, and use the PS driver in Xprt. I'm not sure the PCL driver is 
tested or included anymore.

How did you setup the driver to use letter? Which files have you edited 
from the defaults and what changes?

FWIW, I use /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xserver/C/print/attributes/document to 
default all my printers to na-letter, since that the only paper in any 
of them.
