No, it apparently doesn't - using the same account, the same KDE
session, I can print fine from KDE and Gnome apps that don't use XPrint.
One thing worth noting, the local CUPS server on both workstations is
only serving remote printers pulled dynamically from a different CUPS
server in the LAN.

Yes, it does. But it depends. "lpstat -l" shows nothing; "lpstat -p"
shows a listing of printers:
# lpstat -p

All of them are visible in XPrint's client (Mozilla browser), but
printing to any of them results only in the vague error log messages
I've written about in the previous message.

On Mandrake:
# ls -lad /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 12 root root 280 Jul 6 15:59 /tmp/
# ls -lad /var/tmp
drwxrwxrwt 3 root root 4096 Jul 6 12:38 /var/tmp/
On Fedora:
# ls -lad /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 19 root root 16384 Jul 6 15:14 /tmp
# ls -lad /var/tmp
drwxrwxrwt 4 root root 4096 Jul 5 18:27 /var/tmp
Looks fine, doesn't it?

No, it doesn't. Still the same error in /var/log/messages:
Xprt_33: lpr: unable to create temporary file.
Another error on Fedora Core 1, this time it's descriptive:
Xprt_33: error opening security policy file
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy
It seems that on Fedora Core 1 the SecurityPolicy file resides in a
different location:
# locate SecurityPolicy
/etc/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy

That would be great! All major dsitributions have already switched to
X.org BTW...
