[Xprint] no numbers..

Text in html pages which has not been explicitly formatted
to use a certain font, is always printed wrongly on my system
(Debian Sid, xprt-common 0.0.9.final-2, xprt-xprintorg
0.0.9.final-2).
Only letters are printed, no digits or other non-letter ASCII
symbols (like periods, commas, etc.). Spaces are saved up and
then printed in bunches (on some pages spaces are printed
correctly; don't know why).
The effect is like this: http://www.jw-stumpel.nl/debtest.png
(a partial screen print of a gv view of mozilla.ps generated
from the Debian home page, one of the pages which has this
problem). The headline is OK, the problem is in the default
text.
BTW I noticed that when xprint is started with the very
complicated /etc/init.d/xprint script supplied with Debian,
it uses a font path with lots of duplicates in it:
/usr/bin/Xprt -ac -pn -nolisten tcp -audit 4
-fp /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType,
/usr/share/fonts/truetype,
/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic,
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic,
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc :64
(as shown by ps aux; newlines inserted for clarity)
This is obviously not right. However, when started "by hand",
e.g. with Xprt :64 -audit 4, the same "letters only" print-
outs result.
I'm printing with lprng.
